As ATM matures as a technology and becomes commercially available, many complex implementation issues must be dealt with. Signalling protocols and procedures are one such issue.

This application note describes the underlying technology and some testing techniques that can be used to verify protocol operation, and characterize protocol performance. The Agilent Technologies Broadband Series Test System is used to illustrate certain testing methods.
