Agilent Technologies’ Signaling Analyzer provides distributed testing and analysis that maximizes the effectiveness of engineers who perform system verification, develop, plan, install, optimize, and troubleshoot complex mobile networks.

The Signaling Analyzer solution allows complete testing of network and individual call performance across 2G, 2.5G, 3G, SS7, SS7/IP, and IMS networks which simplifies the resolution of the most complex interoperability problems in telephony.

Advanced Applications and Measurements
Faster 2G, 2.5G and 3G deployment and troubleshooting with advanced Call Trace
Real-time decodes and call trace on UTRAN, IP-UTRAN, GERAN, CN, IMS and PSTN interfaces. It uses a graphical call visualization engine for rapid troubleshooting and problem isolation. The graphical call trace offers a one line view of the call and its health, enables a unique drill down to messages and decodes, and calculates call-specific KPIs for each call detected.

Graphical and Tabular Statistics and KPIs

Statistics for a variety of counts and ratios that range from message type to cause values and specific information elements within protocols such as call set up and tier down performance, SIR values in NBAP Dedicated Measurement Reports, FER/BLER per NodeB/BTS, Quality distribution analysis, Tx Carrier Power Analysis, Rx Total Wideband Power Analysis, IMSI-based SAI/LAC analysis and more. Most tabular statistics have a unique drill-down capability to the Call Trace capability.

KPI are classified in the following categories:

  • Call Set up Successful Ration
  • Drop Call in Signaling Plane
  • Crop Call in User Plane
  • Signaling Congestion Ratio
  • Traffic Congestion Ratio
  • Soft Handover Successful Ratio
  • Hard Handover Successful Ratio
  • CS Traffic Loading
  • PS Traffic Loading
  • PS Traffic Amount
  • Busy/Idle Cell Ratio
Quick Problem Isolation with just ‘Three Clicks’ of the mouse

The Signaling Analyzer is an efficient troubleshooting solution that enables finding problems with just 3 clicks of the mouse.

Start by enabling the call trace engine. The phase graphics display events in various icons and color codes. This allows you to make an immediate decision about which call to focus on. Clicking the line item brings you straight to the message for analysis.

Multi-User
Signaling Analyzer Multi-User enables high-performance multi-client analysis by several clients in a single solution. All clients have simultaneous yet fully independent access to measurements flowing through the same hardware platform without impacting or limiting performance of the overall system. This solution provides the most flexible, high-performance approach to multi-user functionality in the industry today.

Call Manager
Call Manager enables engineers who are tasked with service optimization, service assurance, troubleshooting, or network maintenance to quickly find problems among millions of calls in the wireless network. Call Manager, designed with scalability and flexibility in mind, allows a large number of users to analyze data from various Call Manager databases in the network in a fully distributed environment. All Call Manager clients can share the Call Manager database concurrently. At the same time, they can independently analyze the calls from a certain time span, on a particular network segment, or related to particular subscribers

Pseudo RNC RLC/MAC Reassembly
Perform RNC-like frame selection on a per-call basis before analysis of the data. The Pseudo RNC application enables you to obtain accurate measurement results in full compliance with what a UMTS RNC and the network is actually doing and decisions made by an intelligent 3G UMTS network.

R5 High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA)
Support for analysis including call trace, statistics, decodes and reassembly of all supported Release 5 protocols and radio channels.

UTRAN Optimizer

Expert characterization of UTRAN functionalities with specific analysis of

  • Credits Allocated
  • Credits Utilized
  • User Buffer Size
Lower per-port cost
Real-time reassembly of thousands of AAL-2 and AAL-5 channels. Multi-port OC-3/STM-1 and T1/E1 interfaces. Demux and Channelization on HDLC and ATM; significantly lower per-port cost for T1/E1.

Voice quality analysis

Capture and playback of voice calls

Export of voice call PCM data for voice quality analysis.

Decode View
Each protocol level is shown in a different color to make troubleshooting simpler. The protocol names are also shown as a text header for each protocol in the stack. You can customize colors to suit personal preference.

Message Validation
Message-encoding errors found in received messages are highlighted. When the message is decoded the section with the error is also shown in the same color to aid troubleshooting.

Message Sequence Validation
Advise of errors in message sequences like the ones which do not fit into a normal call pattern). Errors are highlighted.

Deciphering
High performance, real-time and fully automatic deciphering of Iub and Gb links.

Auto Configuration
Full AAL-2 channel auto configuration over complex UMTS Iub interface.

Flexible data logging
You choose how and where to capture and save data. In addition, export to CSV is available for custom reporting.

Time Synchronization
NTP, GPS or internal Synch & Ctrl synchronization. Any option available!

Signaling Analyzer (XML) API
XML-based application programming interface to all major functions and applications within the Signaling Analyzer. It controls the Signaling Analyzer in an automated regression test system.

Leverage investment
Signaling Analyzer obtains data from the Agilent DNA, DNA PRO and DNA MX platforms leveraging the same hardware used for data analysis, which enables getting even greater benefits from test tools investment. Signaling Analyzer includes 7-layer network analysis for LAN/WAN/ATM infrastructure. 15% of mobile problems occur at the transmission layer according to an Agilent study.
