Testing MPLS and IP VPNs Network equipment manufacturers and service providers are racing to develop and deploy VPN services. This paper looks at some of the VPN options available and the challenges associated with testing their functionality and performance. Specifically we look at testing layer 3 VPNs: IPSec based VPNs, Remote Access VPNs using L2TP, and BGP/MPLS VPNs as well as layer 2 MPLS VPNs.
