This
wave of new products and enhancements marks the shipping of our 5.0 release
of software, and more importantly, the second generation of RouterTester architecture:
RouterTester 900. Designed to be industry's densest IP traffic and protocol
test solution, the RouterTester 900 chassis and interfaces offer more powerful
protocol emulation and traffic generation. New multicast products
and features are also a key part of this release, including the world's
first and only PIM sparse mode emulation test software. Below is a
list of new products and features supported in this new release.

- IGMPv3 – emulation of the host side of IGMPv2/v3 is now possible
with RouterTester.
- BGP-4
Protocol Software (E7851B) – Address
prefixes up to /32 are now supported. There is no longer a limit of 65,535 routes
per route pool (billions per pool now supported). Also, on RouterTester
900 only, up to 500 BGP peers can be emulated on each card.
- BGP-4
Conformance Software (E7861A)
– BGP confederation test has been added.
- OSPF
Protocol Software (E7853A) – now supports
Type 7 LSA (NSSA Option) based on RFC 1587,
LSA Discard Mode (for faster initial convergence), and scalability enhancements
(for example, 20x20 grid and more adjacencies per port).
- IS-IS
Protocol Software (E7866A) – neighbour
auto-discovery, dynamic host name exchange (RFC 2763), LSP Discard Mode,
and many other performance and scalability enhancements.
- LDP
Protocol Software (E7858A) –
supports Downstream-on-Demand (DoD) mode, as well as multiple targeted
LDP sessions. Also, LDP is now supported over ATM on RouterTester
900.
- RSVP
Conformance Software (E7857A) – Refresh Reduction test has been
added.
- O-UNI
RSVP Conformance Test Suite (E5171B) - has been upgraded to comply
with OIF-UNI-01.0.
- Gigabit
Ethernet Module (E7904A/E7914A) –
It is now possible to pattern-match on selected fields in the
VLAN header when performing Layer-2 capture/decode.
- QuickTest
– new scripts have been added for VPN scalability,
PIM, IGMPv3, VLAN, Denial of Service, and Forwarding Performance test
scenarios..
- New
save/restore mechanism –
you can now restore sessions on a different set of ports.
- Single-shot
Transmit –
transmit a single burst of traffic while background traffic
is running.
