System Controller

A number of system controllers are available depending on your performance requirements. Each controller provides an easy-to-use Windows® environment, and is capable of concurrently controlling all the N2X test cards and application software. An Ethernet Switch is required for System Controllers that will connect to more than one N2X chassis; customers can choose either an 8-port or a 24-port Ethernet system switch.

designed to increase scalability and reduce test cost with
its high port density and new CPU per port architecture that
enables user per port, increasing the number of users that
can make use of the test card.
N2X XR Test Cards 
Packets and Protocols Test Cards for integrated traffic generation
and realistic protocol emulation of routing and signaling
protocols including BGP, OSPF, ISIS and RIP and the latest
MPLS protocols, including RSVP-TE, LDP/CR-LDP, L2oMPLS (Martini),
VPLS, and Multicast for dynamic network testing.

N2X Application Software
Multi-services Transport Application
The N2X J7251A Multi-services Transport software application enables simultaneous
multi-channel, multi-user network simulation and analysis
at SDH and SONET standard. Functionality ranging from overhead
error and alarm analysis to APS service disruption and connectivity
check, the Multi-services Transport application combined with
the N2X XM test cards covers the next generation
SDH and SONET system applications from Q&V through to manufacturing
and acceptance testing. Intrusive through mode capability
is particularly suited for stressing Automatic Protection
Switching (APS) capability during system testing with real-life
network loading conditions. Both high order STS/AU and low
order VT/TU channel granularity is provided.
Packets and Protocols Application
The N2X Packets and Protocols application enables the N2X
to verify the traffic forwarding performance, protocol scalability
and services delivering capabilities of switching and routing
devices. The N2X Packets and Protocols application consists
of two software licenses:
N2X Integrated L2-7 Solution and Stateful TCP Traffic Generation and Measurement 
The Agilent N2X Integrated L2-7 Solution is the first to provide integrated L2-7 application traffic generation and quality-of-service measurements, with the capability to load routers and broad band network gateways with realistic, dynamic and repeatable TCP sessions at scale.

Ethernet OAM Fault Management (Y.1731) Emulation Software 
The most comprehensive and scalable tool to verify the operation, performance and scalability of ITU-T Y.1731 fault management implementations for Ethernet.
Ethernet OAM Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) Emulation Software
The N5581A CFM Protocol Emulation software is one component of the N2X Carrier Ethernet test solution, which includes emulation and conformance testing of technologies such as LACP, STP, RSTP, MSTP, BFD, L2oMPLS, VLANs, MEF 9 and MEF 14.
Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) Emulation Software 
The N2X IGMP emulation enables the testing of IPv4 multicast replication devices such as BNG, BSA, BSR, and
B-RAS. Using the client emulation with the provided IGMP querier emulation, multicast snooping mechanisms can be exercised and tested on devices such as OLT, DSLAM, and Ethernet switch. These tests can be conducted in isolation or as part of an integrated triple play services test including IPTV, simulated VoIP traffic, data and additional access protocols such as DHCP, PPPoX or MLD.
Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) Emulation Software 
The most comprehensive and scalable solution available for testing link bundling, a technology that aggregates multiple Ethernet links into a single logical link to increase bandwidth and availability. This software accurately emulates the Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), which is the protocol used by partner systems to form and manage link aggregation groups. By combining multiple N2X Ethernet interfaces into one or more link bundles, emulating LACP, and generating realistic traffic over each link bundle, N2X can accurately verify the functionality and performance of LACP implementations.
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP, RSTP & MSTP) Emulation Software
The N2X Spanning Tree Protocol Emulation Software offers the most comprehensive and scalable solution available for testing Spanning Tree protocols. These protocols are used to ensure loop-free layer-2 frame forwarding within Ethernet networks. N2X emulates carrier-scale topologies using the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), and Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), enabling the user to test legacy and next-generation switching devices with VLANs.
MLD Protocol Emulation Software
The N2X MLD protocol emulation can be used to quickly verify channel selection within IPv6 IPTV networks, to ensure IPv6 multicast deployments can meet subscriber scalability and service quality expectations. This software complements the N2X DHCPv6 emulation software and powerful IPv6 traffic generation capabilities to offer a complete IPv6 test solution.
Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) Protocol Emulation Software
The N5583A N2X Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) Protocol Emulation Software offers the most comprehensive and scalable solution available for testing Bidirectional Forwarding Detection, which is a protocol used to rapidly detect faults between two forwarding engines, enabling faster recovery from faults and increased network availability. N2X accurately emulates BFD including the three-way handshake, Echo, Poll sequence, and multihop paths over all interface types – enabling users to comprehensively verify BFD implementations.
