N2X Release 6.9
The latest Agilent N2X 6.9 system release includes new products and enhancements:
- Stateful TCP Traffic and Measurement - (N5575A)
This innovative new product adds a completely new traffic model to the N2X to simulate realistic TCP traffic between simulated clients and servers on N2X test ports. The N5575A software license enables the hardware-accelerated implementation of TCP to run on N5551A/B cards. You can generate line-rate stateful traffic on Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, even with very short (64-byte) packet lengths, and establish TCP connections at a rate of over 100,000 connections per second. New measurement capabilities are also provided to measure TCP control plane and data plane performance.
- Data Application License - (N5576A)
The N5576A Data Application license allows the simulation of application traffic over TCP connections established by N5575A. Applications simulated with the initial version of this product include HTTP, FTP, and BitTorrent.
- STP, RSTP, & MSTP Emulation Software - (N5580A)
The N5580A Spanning Tree (STP, RSTP, and MSTP) Emulation Software product enables testing of many switched Ethernet scenarios, including root bridge election, topology change convergence, interoperability, and scalability/performance for each of these IEEE-defined spanning tree protocols.
- BFD Emulation Software - (N5583A)
The industry’s firs N5583A Bi-directional Forwarding Detection (BFD) Emulation Software product emulates thousands of BFD sessions behind N2X ports, enabling the testing of many native BFD features such as multi-hop paths, and determination of BFD scalability/performance tradeoffs. The emulation also enables easy testing of BFD protection scenarios for accelerating EGP and/or IGP convergence as well as BFD-triggered RSVP Fast Reroute.
- IGMP Emulation Software - (E7828A)
The E7828A IGMP Emulation Software enables IPv4 multicast testing, including new features such as IGMP over PPPoE and IGMP with DHCP provided you have the relevant access protocol license.
From release 6.9 onwards, the IGMP Emulation Solution is broken out explicitly as a separately-licensed product separate from the base Packets and Protocols Application. Accordingly, as of release 6.9, an E7828A license is required to access any IGMP functionality, including that previously bundled with the E7881A/B Packets and Protocols application.
If you install release 6.9 on an N2X controller that had release 6.8 or earlier installed before May 1, 2007, a temporary license for E7828A will be automatically created during the 6.9 installation process. This temporary license must be converted to a permanent license via the N2X technical support website before December 1, 2007.
- DHCP, IGMP, PPPoX, and L2TP Emulation Bundle - (E7829A)
The E7829A DHCP, IGMP, PPPoX, and L2TP Emulation Bundle is the combination of the E7887A DHCP, E7888A access protocols, and E7828A IGMP licenses. This package offers a comprehensive set of licenses for IPv4 access network testing with N2X.
- IPTV enhancements to support new interface types and improve the versatility and scalability in testing IPTV scenarios.
- Real-time latency and latency-variation histograms added to the base “Packets” and “Packets and Protocols” applications.
